I created this artwork which follows my Grandma’s quilt pattern that is now framed and hung in my home. My Grandma made many quilts in her lifetime, and I have so many memories of walking into her living room and seeing all the patterns and fabrics laid out in preparation for making a new one. I’m so thankful that some were passed down to me, these are the things that I treasure ✨
Traditional Hawaiian quilts are known as Kapa Moe. These beautiful quilts have a rich cultural history and take their name from the indigenous handcrafted Hawaiian textile known as Kapa. The intricate designs in these quilts often reflect elements of nature. They are created for loved ones and passed down from generation to generation.
